Draw Pushes Dundee United to Fourth

21st April 2009
Dundee United and Kilmarnock draw at Tannadice with chances few and far between. United are only five points away from Hearts and the European spot. Paul Dixon picked up a red card late in the game with a last-man foul on Killie’s Danny Invincible.
Manager Craig Levein kept a similar squad to last week’s game against Hamilton. However, Warren Feeney and Morgaro Gomis both joined the Dundee United bench. Kilmarnock’s Kevin Kyle – the hat-trick hero last week against Falkirk – picked up a hamstring injury during training.
Jim Jeffries believes his side should have had a penalty when Gavin Skelton was tripped in the box by Garry Kenneth. United’s Lucas Zaluska kept them in the game with a wonderful save from Craig Bryson’s 25 yard drive.
Chances from Paul Caddis and Paul Dixon were both not enough to win the game. Levein comments on United’s overall performance, “We just didn’t play. I can’t fault the effort. There was loads of running about. It might be that this point becomes valuable.”
